Why Your Football Team Should Be Your Zodiac Sign
Why Your Football Team Should Be Your Zodiac Sign
By Tom Fairhall
I broke my leg playing football when I was 25.
Lying in hospital, I had a thought that wouldn't leave me alone:
Why do I even support this team?
The Geography Problem
I support Hereford FC. Why? Because I was born near Hereford.
That's it. That's the entire reason.
I didn't choose them. I didn't earn the right to wear the shirt. I just happened to emerge from a womb within 30 miles of Edgar Street.
And yet I've spent thousands of pounds, hundreds of hours, and untold emotional energy on a football club that has never once asked if I wanted to join.
That's insane.
What If Identity Was Universal?
8 billion people on Earth.
12 zodiac signs.
Everyone already has a sign. They didn't choose it. It's assigned at birth, just like geography. But unlike geography, everyone shares it.
A Scorpio in Lagos has the same sign as a Scorpio in London. A Leo in Tokyo matches a Leo in Texas.
What if sports worked that way?
Zodiac 12
That's the idea.
12 teams. 12 tribes. 8 billion potential fans.
Not based on where you were born. Based on when.
Imagine:
- Global rivalries that cross borders
- Community that doesn't require relocation
- Merchandise that means something to strangers on the other side of the world
It sounds absurd. But then again, so does organizing your entire social identity around a postcode.
Beyond Sports
Zodiac 12 isn't just teams. It's a platform for belonging.
- Content — Daily horoscopes, personality insights, community stories
- Commerce — Sign-based merchandise that actually means something
- Connection — Find your tribe anywhere in the world
We're not building an app. We're building identity infrastructure.
Why Now?
Traditional sports are fragmenting. Gen Z doesn't watch the same games their parents did. But they do look up their horoscope.
Astrology is having a moment. Not because people believe Mercury literally affects their email. But because they want to belong to something. They want a language for talking about themselves.
Zodiac signs are that language.
Zodiac 12 turns that language into a movement.
The Invitation
This is the craziest thing I've ever tried to build.
It's also the one I believe in most.
If you've ever felt like sports fandom was arbitrary — if you've ever wanted to belong to something bigger than a postcode — I want to hear from you.
"We're not building an app. We're building belonging."
